Episode 1: Discussing the launch of Buxton Coates Solicitors and the credibility of Professional Associations with Chris Barrow, Dental Business Coach

We’re thrilled to introduce a new regular series of podcasts, hosted by our HR and Employment Lawyer and Director, Sarah Buxton. These episodes will be released regularly, and Sarah will be joined by expert guests to discuss a broad range of hot topics from across in the legal sector.

To turn the tables somewhat, the first podcast to launch the series is hosted by Dental Business Coach, Chris Barrow. The episode is primarily aimed at explaining the move from FTA Law to Buxton Coates Solicitors, which represents a forward move for the business, now led by Sarah Buxton and Thomas Coates.

The linkup of Thomas and Sarah with the Frank Taylor Group in 2016 proved a formidable base from which to take the bold step of launching a brand-new law firm. They are incredibly grateful to Andy Acton, Chris Strevans, and Lis Hughes for the opportunity to start a law firm that does things differently to the traditional law firm model.

The business saw unprecedented growth, particularly during and after the COVID pandemic, following which Thomas and Sarah began discussions with their fellow shareholders with a view to taking full control of the business. Those discussions culminated in their completion of the acquisition on 5th June 2023, bringing to an end the firm’s connection with the Frank Taylor Group.

The core services of Buxton Coates will remain exactly the same as FTA Law; we provide sales and acquisitions, property, civil litigation, and employment and HR, and we are committed to providing the best service we can for our clients.

The team consists of 20 members, who are all extremely excited about the new direction of the firm.

What might the new direction mean for our clients?

For all intents and purposes, clients and the team of Buxton Coates can expect the same experience as they’re used to with FTA Law, as we will always continue striving to provide exceptional service.

The legal profession is changing and diversifying all the time. In many ways, the legal profession is similar to dentistry: we also have recruitment and retention issues, for instance. But crucially, both industries must keep moving forward and do whatever is required of us.

The firm's support of its long-term partners will remain steadfast. These partners include the Association of Dental Administrators and Managers (ADAM), the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT), and the Business Confidence Forum.

In part two of the Buxton Coates Solicitors Podcast, Sarah Buxton explores what legal professional associations mean in practice, and discusses the credibility of associations such as NASDAL (The National Association of Specialist Dental Accountants and Lawyers).

You can listen to the full recording of the first episode below, and keep your eyes out for future editions!
